Happy Happy Joy Joy

28 Feb

Tomorrow, February 28th 2013, marks my eleventh anniversary here in the house on Mattoon Street. I love you, house!

Friday, March 1st, 2013, marks the start of the GUEST BATHROOM RENOVATION PROJECT!!!!! Wheeeeeeeeee!!!

I’ve been wanting and waiting to add a bathroom up there since I first moved in and have doubly wanted to ever since I started hosting guests from Servas and AirBnB, and I will have one in about a week! Yipppppeeeeeeeee! With a shower! Whooo Hooooo!!

Here are some before photos for your consideration. Just you wait — it’s going to be an AMAZING transformation. And total cost? Under $5,000, thank you very much.

Bathroom Before: Storm window collection against exposed brick wall with waste pipe. This will become a solid wall where the tub and loo go.

Bathroom Before: Another view of the waste pipe wall. Tub will be where toilet is sitting and toilet will be near window. The tub and toilet are just resting there, there is no plumbing at all in this room yet.

Bathroom Before: lonely tub in an empty room. Btw, the tub is white. It's brand new (I got all the bathroom fixtures for free from CL or Freecycle) and is wrapped in a protective blue film. I thought it was blue when I got it, but was thrilled to discover it's white.

Ooooh, reno! Are you doing this all yourself? Bless your heart if you are… what courage! Good luck! Can’t wait to see how it comes out. I’m a big fan of before-and-afters.

    Also, those floors are *beautiful*

Hi– the bathroom is being done by a contractor who is a friend of a friend and gave me a great price. I am going to do some painting and will put in a tin ceiling at a later date, but this job is basically hands-off for me (the first one!). It’s going to be awesome and I can’t wait to see the finished job. They start tomorrow — stay tuned for more in-progress photos.

And yeah, congratulations on 11 years in such a gorgeous home. How rude that I forgot to mention it!
