Wall of tomatoes

31 Aug

Every time I step outside, I get the song “Wall of Confusion” running through my head, only it’s “Wall of Tomatoes”.

These are the two (yes, TWO — not two dozen, not two hundred, just plain two) $1.99 tomato plants I bought at Ocean State Job Lots (a surplus store) in May and put in the ground. They’ve taken over everything, eaten their cages, are about to overtake that chair, and just grow to the moon, I think.

I’ve had dozens of delicious tomatoes already, and they just keep comin’!

Oh, and I got my digital camera back!

Maybe this was some kind of mutant gene that was being tested and somehow found its way to the discount store? I have never seen such huge tomato plants – they look like they are about to take over your backyard!

Wow, that’s some kind of green thumb you’ve got there, lady. I’ve never yet grown my own vegetables…Someday…

I think it’s the soil — I planted basil there last year that grew to be about three feet tall. I have basil there again this year, but the tomatoes are just crowding everything else out.
