Tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow!

18 Jul

The end is nigh! I can’t even remember what it feels like to take a bath, but that may all change TOMORROW when the plumber comes to hook me back up. But there’s many a slip twixt cup and lip, so who knows if it will really all go according to plan.

Today my dear friend, neighbor, and general source of wisdom and expertise and I put the sink in place with super heavy duty adhesive (the kind I used to glue my head to the tin ceiling). We even used a LEVEL. Pretty sophisticated stuff. I also installed baseboard all around (had to abandon the mitered corners b/c I just couldn’t figure it out. Got the area under the sink in gudenov shape, but I may add some more wood.

I need to paint the baseboard and give the ceiling a third coat (Liz informs me I need to go all in one direction in order for it to look fully covered, so will do that tomorrow) before Walchek comes and hooks me up. I’ll give the wood behind the tub another dose of linseed oil just for good measure, too.

He’s scheduled to come at 3:00 PM tomorrow — oh heavenly tub!

I’m very pleased with how everything in the bathroom has turned out — it DEFINITELY has that 100+ year old look and I hope that I will hear lots of comments to the effect of “Wow, I can’t believe you still have the original bathroom” or “I can’t believe how well that sink survived all these years”. The tin ceiling especially has that look — Liz agrees.

Great pictures. You forgot to mention my willingness to aid and abet in hair-brained schemes. Call me when the plumber leaves, so I can see it done.
